Balance and Flow by John Zeman

Balance and Flow is a series of mixed media works that draw inspiration from the natural world, Islamic art, cathedral architecture, mandalas, and barn quilts. The work is based on the principle of order and chaos, and the relationship of finding a harmony that lives between these two opposing concepts. These works invite the viewer to look through the lens of unity, to find the delicate juxtaposition of geometric and abstract motifs and their necessity for one another to become whole.

John Zeman, of Zman Designs, is a mixed-media artist residing in Southern Illinois who specializes in acrylic paintings and murals. He holds a BFA in studio painting from Metropolitan State University of Denver 2020’.  Zeman’s work explores the connections between symbolism and the psyche, by using familiar forms, bold colors, and intricate patterning.

The Corridor Gallery is located in the Carbondale Civic Center. View the exhibition Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 5pm. To purchase artwork, please contact Artspace 304 at exhibits@artspace304.org or call 618.457.5100
